Pauline Nguyen, the inspirational co-founder of the world’s most awarded Vietnamese restaurant – Red Lantern – will ‘cook up a storm’ at the FPA Women in Wealth networking breakfast in Sydney on Wednesday 25 October.

As one of Australia’s most successful entrepreneurs, Pauline will share her thoughts and the various ingredients required to develop personal and organisational courage, resilience and grit.

Pauline will discuss her journey in the highly competitive restaurant industry, where over 16 years of running the Red Lantern, she has survived multiple economic downturns and weathered tumultuous times.

“It takes a great deal of courage, resilience and grit to commit to the game for so long,” Pauline says. “In our world, commitment is commitment is commitment. It’s about understanding that life is a marathon, not a sprint. And we do what we do because we love it.”

Pauline says one of the key takeouts from her presentation will be how to have the ability to always ‘show up’ with dignity, grace and poise, in the face of any problems that come our way.

“As leaders, it’s our responsibility to do so. Emotional mastery and self-mastery are the ultimate weapons of influence. These traits are important in business and in life,” she says.

Pauline will also talk about the importance for women to be courageous and resilient in both the workplace and in their personal life. She says self-sustainability is about self-love and self-expression.

“Self-sustainability is also about taking risks and experiencing new adventures and being addicted to learning. Consistently learning new things helps us to evolve faster and become sexier, smarter, more youthful and energetic, which leads to more self-love, more self-expression and more self-sustainability. To venture out of our comfort zones involves courage, resilience and grit.”

Pauline believes self-awareness is another key aspect of developing courage, resilience and grit – both on a personal level and professionally.

“Understanding others is power. Understanding ourselves is empowerment,” she says.

“When women escape the old paradigm of ‘victimhood’ in a male-dominated world, then their personal reality will change. The only true power is the power we possess within ourselves. When we learn to become self-referential instead of external referential, our world changes for the better.

“This is when life gets really exciting and we have a lot more fun! Self-understanding and personal sovereignty is key to achieving that.”

As a bonus offer for FPA members attending this event, attendees can also join the founder of Financial Executive Women (FEW), Judith Beck, when she hosts FEW’s Circle discussion group from 11am-12:30pm following the breakfast. FEW’s Circle events are an opportunity for women to discuss topical issues with their peers.
