Ian R. Taylor commenced as Chair of the Tax Practitioners Board in January 2013 and was reappointed in December 2015 for a further three years. Ian previously worked with KPMG in Melbourne from 1985 to 2006 as a tax partner before retiring and establishing his own tax practice as a registered tax agent. He was previously a senior lecturer in taxation, financial management and accounting at Swinburne University in Melbourne for 13 years. He has also lectured at both the Melbourne Business School and at LaTrobe University. 

He has a Bachelor of Economics and Diploma of Education from Monash University and a Masters of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia and served as Chair and member of its disciplinary committee, as well as a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and served as Chair and member of its tax education committee.
