2020 Financial Planning Week

29 September 2020

Money & Life team

Money & Life contributors draw on their diverse range of experience to present you with insights and guidance that will help you manage your financial wellbeing, achieve your lifestyle goals and plan for your financial future.

In 2020, the FPA celebrates the 20th consecutive Financial Planning Week in Australia from 5-11 October.

This year, for the first time, we’re also timing our local celebrations to join forces with two global events:

The global theme put forward by the FPSB for 2020 is Live your today. Plan your tomorrow.

For our Financial Planning Week activities here in Australia we are aligning with this theme and raising awareness about how FPA members can help Australians access financial advice for life.

What’s happening

This year’s integrated campaign in Australia includes new national research, media outreach, social media content as well as Money & Life consumer content.

Research

For Financial Planning Week 2020, the FPA has commissioned new research, the FPA Money & Life tracker: COVID edition examining how Australians are feeling six months into the pandemic. Through this survey, we’ve sought the views of 2,000 Australians aged between 18 and 65 years old about personal finances, investments and more.

The research findings highlight the differences between those who have and haven’t experienced financial advice. They also tap into geographical insights and demographic differences as well as showcasing the value of advice in a tangible way.

Media outreach

The campaign will be promoted across national media, with key research findings shared across radio, TV, print and online.

Money & Life

The FPA’s Money & Life website is publishing consumer-related articles on the research and the theme of this year’s campaign.

Social media

Research insights, an eBook and Money & Life content will all be shared on social media using the hashtags – #WFPD2020 and #FPWeek2020.

Member toolkit

Members can access their Financial Planning Week toolkit by logging in to the FPA member portal. The toolkit includes the research findings and infographics, social media images, the Financial Planning Week logo and copy to use on your own website and newsletters to feature Financial Planning Week highlights for your clients and prospects.

Join in the global celebrations: World Financial Planning Day

On 7 October, our global financial planning profession will come together for World Financial Planning Day (#WFPD2020) to help raise awareness of the value of financial planning, having a financial plan and working with a competent and ethical financial planner who puts clients’ interests first.

World Financial Planning Day global virtual event

For the first time, the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) is hosting a global event to mark World Financial Planning Day (WFPD) on 7 October.

This event will take place in Australia on Thursday 8 October at 01:00 AEDT, or 14:00 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)

FPA members are invited to join financial planning practitioners and financial planning students from across the world for the first live World Financial Planning Day event. This virtual gathering will be focusing on stories and best practices that have emerged during this extraordinary year. The event will be held in two parts:

Session 1: Covid-19 and the Financial Planning Profession: Disruptor, Catalyst or Both?

Session 2: Delivering from a distance: serving client needs in a global pandemic

Free event: Join in live or register to access the recording. Register

Video contest for consumers – global winners to be announced 7 October

The FSPB and member associations have invited consumers from around the world to make a video telling us in 30 seconds or less how meeting a CFP® professional would help them to ‘plan your tomorrow’. On 7 October, the FPSB will select five lucky Grand Prize winners who will be matched with a local CFP® professional for a one-time session and also receive US$1,000 to help achieve their goals – whether that’s paying off debt, saving for college or preparing for retirement.
