The 2022 FPA Roadshow Capital City Series has wrapped up after visiting five capital cities in June.

After visiting five capital cities – Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane – in June, the FPA Roadshow Capital Series has wrapped up for another year.

With attendance of almost 700 people across the five capital cities, the roadshow was an opportunity for members to meet the new FPA CEO, Sarah Abood and FPA Chair, David Sharpe CFP® in-person. The roadshow also provided financial planners with the latest updates on developments affecting them and their businesses, including the fallout from the Federal Election.

Attendees received the latest policy and regulatory updates affecting financial planning, including the Quality of Advice Review and the Federal Election outcome. There were also sessions providing insights on ethics, solving client retirement challenges, and addressing professional indemnity dilemmas. The FPA also provided updates on the changes it is making to improve the member experience.

Speakers included former Olympian and Chief Executive Officer of Generation Life, Grant Hackett OAM; David Martin, Director Professional Lines Insurance at AB Phillips; Thomas Cavanagh, Special Counsel at Wotton + Kearney (Perth); Susanne Craig, Partner at Wotton + Kearney (Adelaide); Dean Pinto, Partner at Wotton + Kearney (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney); as well as the FPA team – David Sharpe CFP®, Chair; Sarah Abood, CEO; and Robert Kimberley, Professional Accountability Manager.

For members who couldn’t attend the roadshow in person, the FPA has made available a range of resources they can access on the FPA member portal. These include: presentation slides; FPA resources covered during the roadshow sessions, such as the FPA Life Risk Guide, ASIC Industry Levy Summary, FPA Advocacy Guide, and FPA SOAP Box.

Members who did not attend the roadshow can still earn up to 2.25 CPD hours by watching the recording of the Sydney roadshow and completing a quiz on FPA Learn.

“The FPA Roadshow was a great opportunity to connect with so many members and to share with them the changes the FPA is making to improve the membership experience and our plans for the future,” says Sarah. “I encourage those members who couldn’t attend the roadshow to review the resources on their member portal, which will help them to keep up-to-date with what’s happening in the profession, while earning CPD hours.”
